I just read in one of the TA reviews of the Encore that it has a sign saying NO outside food or drink with a guard beside it. Is this true? What about the Wynn - are you not allowed any outside drinks? I will have to rethink my stay if that is true. Help.
Encore: ';No outside food or drink';Prolly want to sell you $9 bottles of water.
Encore: ';No outside food or drink';Doesn%26#39;t make sense in this economy to me IF it%26#39;s true.... you going to stop everyone who carries a drink by you? Unless maybe you%26#39;re brown bagging it into the hotel.
If you look at the review it makes a bit more sense - the reviewer says they ';have a sign by the elevator to the guest rooms saying no food or drink and there is a guard there'; or words to that effect. (I%26#39;m paraphrasing here).
The guard is more than likely there to check for room keys, as in most halfway-decent properties in Las Vegas. He/she is probably not there to stop someone from getting on the elevator with a bottle of water from the 7-11 down the street, and I seriously doubt they are going to inspect your bags for a bottle of booze purchased elsewhere.
But the Encore is not the Motel 6, and they probably do not want the kind of clientele rolling a cooler full of beer through their lobby and into the guest rooms.
Most hotels have some kind of policy about outside alcohol, and most don%26#39;t do much to enforce it. But technically they are not supposed to let you in with a cooler full of beer because ';technically'; it violates their liquor license. At least that%26#39;s what they always say...
That makes more sense. Thanks Irish
I just got back Sunday from the Wynn and we brought with us a case of water, case of beer, 1.75 liter bottle of Patron, and snacks (stopped at Von%26#39;s). The bellman brought it all up our two rooms, so I%26#39;m not sure how much truth to that is. We had no problems at all, nor did we see a sign stating we couldn%26#39;t bring our own outside stuff.
You see a lot of people bringing in cases of beer these days, which I understand based on their drink prices. I hope this does not become a trend. I am sure Plant H will not follow.
Irish is totally correct. Yes sigh stating policy of no outside food or drink and yes guard. Guard to check room keys for the floors. It has always been and is the policy of the major resorts, Wynn and Encore included, that no outside food and beverage is allowed. It has never been strongly inforced.
I think that should be enforced...note to self, learn to spell.
I just left Encore yesterday and to be honest, I wasn%26#39;t paying attention to the sign. However, I don%26#39;t see why you couldn%26#39;t, there wasn%26#39;t a guard posted there all the time and I brought food in with me clearly marked ';Cheesecake Factory';.
I noticed that sign as well when we were at the Encore in January. We walked past all the Encore security to the room elevators (and there was a lot of security, we noticed) with our little cooler and they never said anything to us.
We usually bring a small cooler with some water, sodas and beers with us (not a HUGE cooler), just because if we want something while we%26#39;re relaxing in the room we don%26#39;t want to call room service or pay $3 for a soda or water out of the vending machine.
I also noticed the ';No Strollers'; sign at the doors in Encore, the same one they have at the Wynn. And yet I saw several strollers in the hotel/casino. What%26#39;s the point of these signs, I wonder. Guess it discourages some, but not everybody, to not bring in outside food/drink and/or strollers.
