we make one trip to LV every year and usually stay for 7 nights at the Venetian. We are planning to go in July as usual. In today%26#39;s economy this seems kinda ostentatious. But so what, we LOVE LV! I%26#39;m wondering A) does anyone else feel strange about going to ';gamble'; these days and B) did you notice a big change in the LV atmosphere?

the economy
Nope.
Just look at it as you%26#39;re putting back into the economy......
I know people getting layoff and losing tons of money in the stock market is not a good thing... but for those with some job security is sure is nice to see all these cheap Vegas deals!
Great point! Thanks.
I don%26#39;t feel strange. I%26#39;ve always seen Vegas as a fantastic bargain and gambling is just part of it.
The atmosphere seems the same now as ever. Lots of folks doing the same things I%26#39;m doing, within our own budgets.
Vegas vet, since 1981
if you can afford to go to Vegas(or buy a car or home, etc) DO IT...The problem in the economy is people not directly affected ,pulling in their spending habits significantly..Nothing wrong with be prudent, but don%26#39;t stop living!!! Viva Las Vegas!!
I plan my vacation as usual and I am also planning for retirement. Should I feel uncomfortable (or strange as you put it), I will defer. DH and I will be purchasing a new vehicle in the next few months, and we are still planning to make our yearly visit in October...no strangeness there!
My last visit was in October, and I saw no change in the atmosphere personally.
Good Luck!!

I havent been to impacted, no mortgage or stocks, no car payment. When i went last year there were alot of younger people who probably live at home and dont have all the financial responsibilities. Still crowded just seem like people were looking for better value and alot of people i chatted with just said they had a little less gambling budget
I went for new years and it was hoppin, but hey, it was new years. I wouldn%26#39;t feel strange going now, especially since there are some great promos going on. Speaking of which, you should wait and see if Venetian has their ';you pay what the temperature is'; promotion again this summer. $112 rooms at Venetian are a great bargain.
i was out there earlier this month. it was a ghost town. found many 2-1 drink specials during the 8 pm hour at the MB. also, no problem getting reservations day of. it was crazy how empty it was. and the deals are out of this world! got the MB 2 nights on the weekend, for under $200! too bad I would never stay there again.
the clubs were as packed as normal. i found $10 blackjack tables all weekend at every casino. always found a seat my first lap. also, they are looser with the comps. got a ocuple during my play.
