Has anyone been to the Tournaments of Kings in the last 6 months? What are your thoughts on this show for an 8 and 11 year old?
Tournaments of Kings
It%26#39;s been quite a while since I%26#39;ve seen TOK, but since this hasn%26#39;t been answered I%26#39;ll help a little.
I really enjoyed the show.
Jousting, knights on horseback, yelling and screaming, eating chicken with your hands.... what%26#39;s not to like for a youngster?????
Tournaments of Kings
Well, I havent gone there but have gone to Medieval Times in Buena Park, CA. Similar thing as TOK..knights, horses, chicken and salads and roll for food and definitely a made for kids show. Low said it well.
The show is MADE for 8 and 11 year olds. I saw it 6-7 years ago but can%26#39;t imagine it%26#39;s changed much if at all.
We were there in 2007. Merlin does a great warm up act. the tourney was great lots of cheering for your colour/section. Your kids will have a blast. then after the show they can go and play in the mini midway.
when we were there my now nephew-in-law proposed to my niece there at the show. Merlin was in on it. ( I set it up as I was living vicariously through them)
Good Times!! I%26#39;m leaving in 24 hours to Vegas...can%26#39;t wait!!
Its a great show for an 8 and 11yr old. My daughters had ablast that was the age they were whe we went my only suggesion....don%26#39;t take them there when they are tired. We went to the 10pm show the day we arrived and my older daughter was in tears b/c she watired and it was loud, but once she recovered she loved it, earlier show is better!!
Thank you everyone - this is great. I am going to book our tickets!!
We%26#39;ve seen it twice, but not in a couple of years. We would probably do it, again, especially if we were going to treat our grandchildren to it. I think they would love it.
Now, Low pointed out some good points for the kiddies, but forgot to mention there is some eye-candy for both mom (hunky guys on horseback) and dad (pretty dancing girls). I think the ';knights'; are also some of the guys in Thunder From Down Under.
If you go, try not to sit on the lowest level. There is a possibility that the horses will kick mud up into your food.
Also, if you are set on going, either make reservations in advance or check on it as soon as you get there. They do sell out and the first time I tried to see it, I timed it wrong and the show I wanted was sold out.
Hope you and the children enjoy it.

%26#39;kick up mud into your food%26#39;
Well I guess it%26#39;s POSSIBLE but highly unlikely. The venue is fairly small so seating/view isn%26#39;t an issue but I would sit on a side and as close as you can get. Don%26#39;t sit in the Dragon section as you are guaranteed to be the %26#39;loser%26#39; for the event. I used to go with my college friends to this over our %26#39;March Madness%26#39; trip and we LOVED it.
We would sit in separate sections and heckle each other (we kept it pretty PG as there were always lots of kids around) and start group cheers. We got the stadium to do the %26#39;Slow Clap%26#39; several times. We%26#39;ve started the wave. We even got our %26#39;King%26#39; to break character a couple times. (Russia is a cheap shot... I don%26#39;t like that guy)
The kids will love it. It%26#39;s perfectly geared to 8-11 yr olds. Leave the camera in the hotel room though. No photos allowed... other then the ones they take and try to sell you. (I have several videos/pics from my phone though that are kinda cool).
I sat in the first row and had my food eaten before they had a chance to kick mud in it, LOL
Lpuffer-please post your thoughts and review when you return....I have to say I haven%26#39;t been to that show since my kids were small enough to share a seat, I%26#39;m curious if it%26#39;s still worth the money :)
I know when we did take the kids, they were maybe 3 and 5....they LOVED it.
