Do hotels keep copies of your final bill?

Do the hotels keep copies of guests final bill in their computer systems? And if so, does anyone have any idea of how long they keep them?

I realize I probably won%26#39;t get a deinitvae answer, but it doesn%26#39;t hurt to ask.

Ill go out on a limb and say it varies from property to property.

As it happens, I have received copies after about a year on two different occasions when I had travel expenses audited and could not locate the original hotel invoice. Once at Bally%26#39;s, once at Hilton Grand Vacation. In the case of Hilton, they said they had to contact ';accounting'; first, and then faxed me a copy the next day. I assume such success would vary widely, depending on location.

No clue. In a way, they would have them forever because they wouldn%26#39;t delete them after a certain date - they would just move the records to electronic storage. I would think they would try to retain them longer than a regular business just so the hosts and marketing department could have access to them.

cheating are you :)

Just kidding

Sorry don%26#39;t know how long, but I bet from 2 to 5 years.

Now with scanning it is so easy to keep records on a computer so no reason to get rid of info.

I can%26#39;t speak to Vegas hotels specifically, but I used to work at a hotel and we kept guest bills on file in the computer. There were several times people called to request a copy for various purposes.

Call billing at the specific hotel - I%26#39;d bet they have it. I don%26#39;t know for how long they keep them, but I%26#39;d bet a year minimum.

my guess would be IRS regulations on accounting records. 4 years. 7 years? and no doubt whatever accounting firm does corporate audits would like to see them. then you have the state sales tax, county bed tax auditors to pacify.

I%26#39;m just really curious what a ';deinitvae'; answer is!

Yes it should be in your guest history. It is purged every 2 or 3 years.

I agree that they have to comply with IRS regulations, current plus six years, for all accounting records.

However, only current or recent history may be easily retrievable.

Regardless, you need to contact the hotel in question.

';I%26#39;m just really curious what a ';deinitvae'; answer is!';

Sorry I meant definitive. I%26#39;m not the best typist to begin with, and I%26#39;m even worse when interrupted at work.
