One Very Very Bad thing about LV

Hey All,

Just wanted to say that I was just in Las Vegas on February 19 to the 23. And wow what a GREAT city and people maybe b/c I am nice but everyone I talked to was very nice. Jump in and out of taxis the whole trip and all of them but one didn%26#39;t try to take me for a longer ride. The only one was the cab from the airport who wanted to take the tunnel to TI and said both ways are the same intel I told him that I didn%26#39;t want to take that way b/c I was told (Thanks TA) it costed more. Than he said o ya it%26#39;s like 5-10 more and we didn%26#39;t take the tunnel. But others which was like 15 cab rides all did the better routes. Anyways everything else was more than perfect the Vegas shows (KA,O), Dinners (Trevi, Wing Lei, Eiffel Tower and Prime).

SORRY BUT THE ONE THING THAT I HATE. Strong word I know but it%26#39;s true. And I hope now with your new soon to be great President it will change. ';RECYCLING'; Wow not one big hotel and anywhere outside. And this is a place where millions of people go everyday almost. The one and only thing that I didn%26#39;t like at all. With everyone drinking lol non stop on the streets with glass and bottles and cans why can%26#39;t we have Recyclable cans so we can use them on the streets. I can%26#39;t think right now how many garbage cans I seen full of bottles everywhere outside.

Sorry but that is all lol

One Very Very Bad thing about LV

I do know they recycle the uneaten buffet food-they mix it all together and send it out to farms for pigs to eat. I saw it on ';Dirty Jobs';. It was a pretty memorable episode.

One Very Very Bad thing about LV

I%26#39;m going to take a guess here and say that the trash, including bottles and cans, goes to a transfer center where it is sorted and recycled. Just because there isn%26#39;t a 5 cent deposit for each beverage container doesn%26#39;t mean there isn%26#39;t any recycling being done.

Locals? What happens to your trash?

I also saw a show on the Travel Channel one time about the large hotels, and they have back hallways where lots of work takes place that we never see, and they had recycling rooms where they showed staff separating bottles, cans, etc.

So the massive waste of burning fossil fuels to power the giant neon and video displays didn%26#39;t bother you, or the ubiquitous use of bottled water instead of tap water, or the gas-guzzling limousines, but the lack of recycling did, huh?

It%26#39;s always interesting to me to see how green enthusiasts make a fuss about one thing while ignoring a dozen others.

Glad you had a great trip though!

This site will tell you about recycling at the hotels and restaurants in Vegas.

We frequently go to Caesars Windsor and I think it%26#39;s great that they have small recycle bins in the rooms.

stratton get some help please!

I was just saying something that I didn%26#39;t like and yes there is more things but I wanted to point out something that can be easy to fix. Also having blue boxes for recycling will not take anything away from Vegas but if you take away all the lights I think that is something else.. and with drinking water from the tap that is something all over the world people need to look into and not just Vegas but in Toronto where I am from there is Blue boxes everywhere. Also I talked to someone from TI and they said their homes have recycling and in the back the workings do have a place to put recyclable.

ALSO thank you everyone else. That is good new and I didn%26#39;t know that. Thank you for the infor. about the food and the pig farms and etc. That is the reply that I am happy to read and found out about. Not the ones who like to bash each other.

Thanks for this thread rayliz! Often I%26#39;ve wondered why the CW will ask for my empty just to see her toss it in the bin. Now I know why.

Glad to hear that there%26#39;s an effort on recycling behind the scenes, since most people couldn%26#39;t be bothered if they had to do it themselves.

Some of the restaurants send their leftover waste food to local pig farms.
