Restaurant.com

I%26#39;ve seen references on here about coupons from Restaurant.com. It appears they offer coupons for locations that are in Las Vegas.

Can someone give me the short version of how Restaurant.com works? It almost seems too good to be true that you can buy these coupons for a small amount of change and they are worth $10/$25.

Restaurant.com

You go to the website, type in the zip code for the city you are interested in getting a gift certificate to a restaurant for. A listing of restaurants is generated and you choose the ones you want. Throughout each month there are discount codes offered that will further reduce the cost of the GC. At present the code is: DINE. You would spend 2$ for a 25$ GC to a participating restaurant.

Are they too good to be true? Who knows? You can either use it to actually decrease the cost of your meal, or you can use them to overspend on menu items that you would not normally order. The latter would in turn benefit the establishment. We used one for Casa di Amore and overordered and in turn overspent. :^)

Restaurant.com

basically there%26#39;s restaurants all across america that sign on with this company. not just in vegas. (you can browse them by geography on the website)

you pay your $4 or whatever and get a gift certificate that you print out on your computer that is good for $25 (or whatever denomination you chose) worth of food.

there is often fine print on these, such as a minimum purchase of $50 to get $25 off, or alcoholic drinks not included, etc. but you can see all the stipulations before you buy.

essentially you%26#39;re getting a 2 for 1 coupon in most cases or one entree free, but you pay a small amount of money to receive it. the rationale behind it from the restaurant/marketing point of view is that if a customer pays a small price for something, they are far more likely to actually redeem it than if they got it totally for free.

these absolutely work, i have used them in several different restaurants without any problems. just read the fine print before you buy, so you know what your obligation is in order to redeem it.

for example, my favourite one to use is for Border Grill at Mandalay Bay. it%26#39;s for $25, but has a $50 minimum purchase, alcohol not included. sometimes with two people, it%26#39;s hard to hit the minimum, so we think of it as an opportunity to spoil ourselves. we get appetizers and desserts as well as our mains, and order the most expensive main off the menu without a second thought. often, if you%26#39;re close to hitting the minimum purchase, but have purchased alcohol, so technically you%26#39;ve spent more than the minimum already, they will let you use it anyways.

hope that helps explain things. it really is a great deal.

it%26#39;s a very easy process. Just go to Restaurant.com and put in the city and state, or zipcode, to begin the search of restaurants that have coupons available. Usually $3.00 for a $10.00 GC, or $10.00 for a $25.00 GC. They DO have stipulations on them, and an expiration date. Usually you have to spend more than the amount of the certificate, and there may be limitations like, not available for Saturday night. Just look carefully when you choose.

We have used them several times, and never had a problem with them being accepted.

I just received an 80% code DINE exp. FEB28/09

But we used the a discount code to get 2 $25 certificates for $3 each. Both require us to spend a min $35. These were places we planned to eat at anyways, so I figure it will be worthwile.

They email them to you immediately and you print them out yourself. This is my first time using the site, so I don%26#39;t have any details about redeeming them. Looking forward to trying them out mid-march.

Before you buy, be sure to read the conditions for the resturant. Some are for lunch only and some for dinner only. You can only use 1 certificate per table or group per visit (per month)

Some allow your bar tab to be included and others do not. Tips are not included either. The conditions will also list how much you must spend in order to use the coupon. Most are spend $20.00 to use a $10.00 coupon and $50.00 for a 25.00 coupon.

If you know you will spend that much without the coupon it is a good value.

I recently purchased some for a resturant that we go to all the time at home and it includes the bar tab as well. So for us it is a wonderful bargain.

The idea behind the coupons is to get you in, and have you spend the extra to reach the amount required for the coupon.

Ordered 2 25.00 coupons at 70% a few weeks ago for Hennessey%26#39;s ';downtow';. Had a group of 8 and I discussed with them prior if we could use them both and all sit together. No problem-- they put two couples on each bill. Worked great!!!

Thats great news about being able to use more than one coupon at a table at Hennesseys! Woo Hooo! That makes me happy, whatever meal its at! (meaning lunch or dinner)

Nice thread, tutfam.... I%26#39;ve learned something already!

sheila

Thanks everyone. I%26#39;m going to check out the website and see what they have for Las Vegas and local.

I got $25 coupons for two bucks thanks to this forum!!!

For those of you that need the Las Vegas zip code to check out the coupons on restaurant.com, it is

89109 (or at least that is what I used).

You can narrow down your search within 1, 5, 10, ... miles of the zip code you enter.

As others have said, just be sure to read the fine print.
