Summer Mega 09-- June 2--February Edition

Welcome to February’s Edition of the Summer ’09 Mega thread. Yep, we are doing this again this summer. Our date is June 2. Location is still under negotiations.

This Meet %26amp; Greet is being hosted by Pookie (Pookaloki), Gabby (GabbyGambler) and myself (Orangectyny).

But it is your party, you the TA members. This party is being organized for all members to meet and spend time with other members. In the past many of us have met and have formed some wonderful friendships with people through various M%26amp;Gs.

Megas have become a weeklong event of mini-meet %26amp; greets both on the strip and downtown, with a large Meet %26amp; Greet where everyone gets together.

This party will probably start with a Seafood buffet on Friday night possibly at Fremont, followed by a Saturday and Sunday Brunch at Main Street Station and Fremont. Other DT things that have been discussed are a Casino crawl along Fremont and a Sunday night dinner at either Flame or Hugo’s.

The Strip activities that are firmed up include on Sunday, a slots and shots night followed by either Carnival Court or a visit to the twins at the Dueling Pianos at Harrah’s; A visit to Bill’s Gambling Hall for a Big Elvis celebration of Firsttimer’s birthday on Wed., June 3, followed by dinner either at Ellis Island or Margaritaville.

We realize that the economy is having a large impact on many vacation plans for the summer. BUT, if you are considering joining us, join in on this thread and give us your ideas, your comments and your enthusiasm in the planning for this party. This way your voice will be heard and your ideas exchanged with us. Even if you know you can’t join us in Vegas, join in on the planning and the fun of this thread.

Thanks Marge. When I sit and think about it, June seems far away to me, but when I see it in days the wait doesn%26#39;t seem so bad!!

4 months to go.

I just hope I can make it. I know last summer%26#39;s bash was a blast in Vegas.

Arizona must win today to make that happen! Only cuz i don%26#39;t want them having more Super Bowl trophies than the 49ers!!!!!

Dinner at Hugos sounds good. Never been there and vp talks about it all the time.

Dueling pianos sounds like a blast. Only done it one time before and loved that. Hope there%26#39;s a way to get us seats....

Just sitting with FirstTimer and drinking watching Elvis? It doesn%26#39;t get any better. It would be an honor sitting with him.

I%26#39;ve never been to one of these before, but would love to give a shot if possible. I see June 2 is on a Tuesday. Is this is a one-day thing, or several days? Thanks in advance.

bri June 2nd is the main event, but there are many other smaller events planned leading up to and probably after the main meet. All are welcome in our wonderland we call Vegas!

Thanks Lowrance. I%26#39;m going to be out there at the end of February for NASCAR. So 3 months after that, I may need another Vegas fix! I%26#39;ll see if I can make it happen!

This Mega party sounds like it is coming together. I have been to the Dueling pianos several times. There were times when getting tables was no problem and others when it was packed. I think the earlier you get there the better chance to get a some tables together. I would love to see all the TAers ';on stage'; so someone must take pics and video for youtube!

DH needs something different to do this coming trip. He%26#39;s so laid back. Maybe I can get him to do the race track thing this time.

Any suggestions are welcome...loves planes, cars books but not crazy for gambling, not at all.

If I ever thaw out, I will get a DT activities thread going. Because I don%26#39;t know when I can get off, we will probably hold off on plans before May 29. We will have lots of time to add them.

As many of you already know, the Mega Week resulted from several posters unable to attend the actual MEGA M%26amp;G. Some could be in Vegas the week before and others the week after. By spreading out the various activities, more posters could partake of some of the fun. The Mega Week in June was so successful that we tried a week of events around the OSV (Old School Vegas) M%26amp;G in Dec. This week was also a big success and a lot of fun.

First, let me say that Downtown is not for everyone. If you don%26#39;t have comped rooms on the Strip and don%26#39;t care about anything except clean and safe rooms, then Downtown might work for you.

Because the Mega is being held at Golden Nugget this year, I think that GN would be a really nice place to stay and has a great pool.

Please note, for me the difference between DT and the Strip is the same as a County Fair and Six Flags.
