Fitzgeralds safe place?

Air Canada cancelled my original flight and I%26#39;m now having to book a room for Saturday May 23. Either that or arrive at 12am Monday morning instead of my originally planned 11am Sunday and lose a whole vacation day. No way!

Anyway rates for Sat are of course high. Harrahs has some ok rates but I can%26#39;t book with them because I already have a deal with them for for Monday - Thurs so there isn%26#39;t the 48hr wait in between bookings. Splurged on Signature for Sunday. (trying to do the rest of the trip on a budget this time)

I see Expedia has Fitzgeralds at a ok rate around $63 with taxes/fees in comparison to prices direct with Fitzgeralds or other hotels. (or perhaps I should wait longer for deals??) I have never stayed there nor even set foot Downtown before. Would the Fitzgeralds be safe for a single female? I have been reading reviews but thought I%26#39;d ask as well. Supershe stated there is a Walgreens next door and that would be super handy for me. I';m not a gambler so I don%26#39;t care whether the gambling is good here.

I usually stay at the Venetian and Signature but I%26#39;m certainly not expecting anything like that here. I%26#39;ve also stayed at the Sahara before and had a good stay there. I%26#39;m not someone who will freak out because the furniture doesn%26#39;t look like it came from a decor magazine. It MUST be clean though.

Absolutely safe. As a matter of fact, all the hotels downtown are safe IMO. I stay downtown 90% of the time and I%26#39;m female. I have not however, stayed at the Fitz. I have stayed several times at the 4 Queens which is right next to the Fitz, stayed at the Fremont, Golden Nugget, Main Street Station, El Cortez and Binions. Never had a moments trouble at any of them. Your expectations of the rooms seems just about right.

I am female and have stayed there twice. Last time was 3 years ago, and everything was fine, nothing fancy but my rooms were clean. I actually have reservations there March 8-14. I love downtown because everything is so close together. I hope you have a great time and please write a trip report.

For just one nights stay I think you%26#39;ll be just fine!

I hit send before I was done. I was just kidding. It is like a Holiday inn or motel six. Should be clean. DT is only okay if you stay under the canopy.

i stay downtown alot, and i travel solo and i am 58 years young. never any trouble. even went to gold spike number of times while it was still a dive. have fun, and good luck.

nb: of course downtown, and the Fitz is safe..I wouldn%26#39;t, however. pay 63 dollars to stay there..

Have you tried somewhere close to Harrahs?

How about Bill%26#39;s or Bally%26#39;s. Go to Harrahs, click on hot deals, and see if there is something closer to Harrahs. Try Bally%26#39;s South Tower. Remember you will have to cab it from Fitzgeralds, so add in the cost of a cab when checking room rates.

Have you check the Orleans or Gold Coast. They are both off strip but pretty close to the strip?

Also check expedia.com, since it is only for 1 night they have some good deals. I don%26#39;t use third party sights, but for 1 night it should be ok.

Myinfo - I can%26#39;t make a reservation at any of the Harrah%26#39;s properties as I already have comp rooms for four nights at one of them and they won%26#39;t let me book anything else unless I have 48 hours between bookings.

I%26#39;ve also been looking through Expedia and places like Bills but they are all over $110 per night. So it looks like it%26#39;ll be Fitzgeralds for me.
