Canyon trips

Hi want some info on canyon trips please-

what is the best way to see it?

who is best to book with?

Is the overnight tipi / lodge stay really tacky ??

If on a package deal do most people end up paying for a room in vegas that remains empty whilst doing overnight in the canyon?

Any info / trips/ advise more than welcome

Thank you!

Canyon trips

By far the best way of seeing Grand Canyon is to drive to South Rim (4-5 hours from Vegas) and stay there overnight. Staying overnight ensures that you get to see the canyon in close to its full glory, something that a day trip can%26#39;t offer as sunrise and sunset are both magical times. I would suggest driving there yourself and booking your own accommodation as it%26#39;s likely to be a better deal than booking an inclusive trip. The Grand Canyon National Park forum is the place to get good advice on this.

If your schedule dictates then you can only fit in a day trip from Vegas then take a fixed wing aircraft rather than a very tiring bus trip. Be aware that helicopter trips marketed out of Vegas only go to the canyon%26#39;s ';West Rim';, where the Skywalk attraction is located. You%26#39;d probably be impressed if you%26#39;re not familiar with canyon scenery but it%26#39;s not the Grand Canyon you%26#39;ll have seen in movies and photos and pales into insignificance compared to what you%26#39;ll find at Grand Canyon National Park.

If you%26#39;ve booked a package trip to Vegas then I guess your room will be empty for a night if you take a trip to GCNP and stay there.
