Daughter turning 16/softball tourny/hotel, pool, show advise

My daughter will be playing in a softball tournament in Las Vegas and happens to turn 16 that Sunday...the last day of the tournament. We are thinking of coming in a day early to do something since Saturday and Sunday are all out softball. I am considering bringing a few of the girls from her team early. I wish I could bring the whole team but fifteen 16 year olds and few parents seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

I found great deals for MGM, Mandalay and Mirage. Because of the good price I was thinking of getting TWO joining rooms one day and letting her bring a three of the girls from her team early. I thought they could hang out at the pool all day (my husband and son would be there as well) and then just eat at a buffet in the hotel or order Pizza in the room since they have to be up to play softball the next day.

Would it be better if I had them off the strip (four sixteen year old girls at pools seems scary to me) or fine since my husband and son will be there? What about that Red Rock Hotel in Henderson?

We stayed at Mandalay last year and loved the pool but were thinking of trying Mirage just for something new and the pool looks nice? Any comments on the pool at Mirage?

Any input on the pool at MGM?

Another thought was just bringing ONE friend rather than 3 and getting one room but doing something like indoor sky diving or a show...maybe KA?

Any input on shows 16 year olds and 12 year olds would enjoy? Is KA appropriate for a 12 year old?

Thank you.

Red Rock casino is in Summerlin, and it%26#39;s an excellent choice. Off the strip (about 25 minutes) but it%26#39;s got all the strip-hotel-like amenities; great spa, wonderful pool area, good assortment of restaurants including a food court, plus movies and bowling.

The rooms are new and wonderfully decorated.

We usually stay there for at least one or two nights every time we come.

You could drive down to the Strip one night for a show and a drive down the Strip. Not sure that walking in and out of the hotels all day/night is particularly interesting for 12/16yo.

The minimum age for KA is 5yo; I haven%26#39;t seen it so I can%26#39;t comment personally on whether it%26#39;s appropriate for 12/16yo, but apparently Cirque thinks it is.

MGM has a giant ppol complex, which would fit your style. As far as Ka Brad Pitt took two of hids kids last week and they are younger than yours

Check out the McKing show at Harrahs... It%26#39;s really good, comedy and magic-...if you do some research you may also be able to find some discount tickets (about 1/2 off).

Check out South Point, it sounds exactly like what you are looking for. Nice large modern rooms, good pool, arcade, movie theatres, bowling alley, and even an equestrian center. The hotel is only 4-5 years old so in very good shape. And most importantly will be a lot friendlier to your budget for multiple rooms than the Strip hotels.

Thanks everyone. I like that Red Rock has bowling and movie theaters. Seems a little more age appropriate?

I could not find discount pricing on it though and I read that they add on an additional 25 spa fee no matter what? I could stay at MGM or Mirage or even Mandalay and get two rooms for less than one at Red Rock?

I am a little nervous for them to be in a different room on the strip even with the door between rooms open. All they need to do is walk out of the room and into trouble. Good thing I am an insomniac. They are good kids but 16 year olds don%26#39;t make good decisions. My husband was teasing her that he could see it now....we just went out to go to the vending machines and this guy said he had a puppy in his room we could come see...then he gave us some candy. She rolled her eyes of course, but they really don%26#39;t make good decisions.

Anyone know of discounts on a suite? Last year the championship game didn%26#39;t start until 8:30 PM so they had to reschedule flgihts for the next day and get a room. My little boy and I came home and my daughter and husband called around. They got a room at Mirage. When they got there they upgraded she and another one of her team mates and parent to a hospitality suite for 65 dollars each. A room like that would be perfect. Big with two rooms of beds but in the same middle living area with one door in and out that they would have to go by us? I wonder if you can book something like that a head of time or if you just have to luck into it last minute?

Thanks for all the input.

If you%26#39;re worried that the kids will disobey instructions to stay put and wander off possibly into trouble, you should probably really consider staying further from the temptation of the Strip....Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch or South Point.

I didn%26#39;t like Ka at all. I would suggest either Mystere or Love (if they like music). I think it is a wiser choice. Ka is one of the shows you will love or hate- it gets mixed review. Mystere or Love would be a safer bet.
